LIGHTBEARS! YOU ARE THE PEBBLE; YOU ARE THE AVALANCHE!

Are you ready? Are you prepared?  Life is full of the unexpected.  Sometimes, without knowing it, we are the final pebble that precipitates an avalanche in our life, which the universe uses to bring us to exactly where and when we need to be.

This can be rather startling of course! No one expects an avalanche…

But each day that we live, and each breath we take, is the start of a potential adventure.  Depending on your point of view, an adventure can be exciting and wonderful, or it can be scary! Or, it can be both. But one thing is for certain, you will not be bored!

We can never anticipate exactly what’s going to happen to us, even though we think we can.  We try to plan, we try to be prepared, and in general our plans frequently work out as we want them to. However, whether you are spiritually “Awake” or not, the universe has its own ways, and its own needs. Those of us who are Awake know this, because we are in service to the universe. We know that we are here for a reason, and we are committed to living our life in dedication to that purpose.

Our role in the universe is quite simple:  to love, to share our light, and to do our best to help improve life for all beings.  We are randomly crossing paths or joining paths with others in an unpredictable way, and that’s just the way life is.  None of us has been born into this world at random: each of us has a reason for being, although we may be blind to it.  Don’t let this frighten you. It all works out in the end!

You may be the person who, by crossing the road at a particular moment, unknowingly saves another person’s life because traffic slowed down just that little bit for you, and a potential accident was averted.  Your smile at a random stranger might jolt them out of a temporary depression by reminding them they are not invisible, and that they matter.  They may, in turn, unknowingly be a blessing to another stranger.  And so on…

It’s incumbent on us to be aware of what it is that we are saying, what it is that we are doing, and what ripples might spread out across the pond from the little stone that we toss in unthinkingly.

Attitude is everything. And perspective is everything. The Eastern religions really have it correct; we must not let our ego drive the ship. It is essential to be open to change, because change is the only thing that is constant. Our ego will always turn out to be the least important factor in the bigger picture!

We may make a phone call, someone may send us an email, we might write a blog (who me?) or we might just walk out of our driveway or drive down the street; we never know what might happen next. That’s the beauty of life, when you stop and think about it. We think we know, and on a bad day we’re sure we know, because on a bad day we’re feeling so bad we’re convinced disaster looms imminently.

The truth is, we can never see around the corner, and miracles, magic, beauty, love, tragedy, misfortune, eye popping good fortune, any kind of thing waits for us to take the first step. Those of us who are awake to the ways of the universe (or think that we know and are awake to its ways) know that we may very well become the pebble that sets our own avalanche in motion.

Just like skateboarding, jet skiing, figure skating, riding a scooter, it’s all in your attitude, it’s all in your balance. You can ride an avalanche safely down to the end of it if you keep your balance and your wits!

What waits at the end of the avalanche might be a pot of gold.  It may be something that the universe has revealed that you never knew existed until that very moment.  It may be some person that you never expected to meet, who changes your life forever. Who knows, indeed, what waits around the corner? Who knows where the avalanche will bring us?

None of us do, you know.  We act confidently, or we act reactively, depending on our natures, but the mystery of life really is an adventure.  Every breath we take brings us closer to the next adventure in our world, in our universe.

Intention and attitude and perspective make all the difference between success and disaster.

For example, you may be a pessimist who habitually expects negative outcomes.  As you ride the avalanche to its conclusion, the universe may have put in your path a pot of gold.  But, because you’re not expecting it, you trip over it and break your nose and walk off cursing your bad luck – all the while not realizing that you tripped over a pot of gold that might turn your life around!

Conversely, if you’re an optimist and tend to look for the positive in every situation possible, you have a better chance of recognizing the pot of gold just as you trip over it. You may still break your nose, you may still curse, because you’ve got blood running down your face and your toe hurts, but your eyes perceive that it was a pot of gold that tripped you up. Now, isn’t that a life-changing experience!

Just think, if you were not the final pebble in the avalanche in your life, which brought you to this moment, to this time, to this place in your life, you would never have seen the pot of gold that was hidden underneath everything.

What am I really trying to say here? I am trying to say that the best way to live, if you are able, is to be open, accepting, and positive in how you view things. Remember that you are not the only person in the universe.  If somebody bumps you, they may have done so on purpose, it’s possible that you may think they have done it on purpose and take offense; or you can ignore it, and realize that whether it was intentional or not, people just get bumped, because everybody is on their own journey, and we are all on our collective journey in this universe of ours.

My final thought is this: our universe is filled with wonder and magic, hope and beauty, and it is up to us as to how we perceive what we experience.  What do we expect to see? And how does that expectation change the reality of what we receive? That is the mystery for each of us in life: every moment, every breath, every step is a beginning. Isn’t it exciting?!!

Ride that avalanche with courage and expectations, and have a good time doing it, because it’s all yours!!  The universe has set it up for you and you just have to ride it — and keep your eyes (physical and metaphorical) open to see what is uncovered.

I wish you many happy adventures and many glorious moments of indecisiveness, where anything is possible, and you just have no idea what awaits you. How fabulous a gift it is, the gift of potential, the gift of the unknown, the gift of possibilities!

As always, I wish you many blessings wherever your path may take you. And remember to always be a LightBear!
